Hello everyone! :) i want to get into the prepping survival hobby and i plan on buying both the ak47 and an ar15 rifle in the near future, for my long range intermediate rifle i will probably buy the ar15 first due to parts and availability/popularity and ammo i know they make ar pistols but i want one of each one AR and one AK the ak47 i will probably buy second. but i was at the gun range and saw the guy next to me with this! So now im torn between what type of ak to get should i just buy a regular ak47 rifle? Or should i get the pistol? The ak isnt really that accurate Past 200 yards even in its rifle form so it will will be used for close to intermediate range anyway. the ar will be used for longer ranges to intermediate. so this is why im thinking i should get the ak pistol and if i want a 762x39 RIFLE id get the sks what do you guys think of this ak pistol? Does anyone have one? Would you rather have this or a regular old ak rifle?

Is this an inside joke about the stunted gas system on the pistol?

Instead of a "pistol" AK, why not just get a folding stock rifle and have more versatility?

Ive held the ak with the under folder stock and the stock is very uncomfortable to me i will most likely be getting An sks if i want a 762x39 rifle since the ak rifles arent to accurate anyways whats your opinion? What do you think about the ak pistol?

I like robocops suggestion. It's the easiest and probably cheapest way to go. OTOH, you can get the AK pistol then add a butt stock. You could get a folder or even a regular rear stock and have a VERY compact SBR. The only drawback is completing the paperwork for a class III license and the 200 dollar tax. I did it a few years ago with my SBR (base gun is a Kel-Tec PLR-16) build and the wait was about 6 months.

I prefer rifles to pistols. The stock provides a third point of contact which makes the rifle more accurate and better distributes recoil which make it faster to re-engage. The longer barrel of a rifle provides a longer distance between rear and front sights which also increases accuracy. Rifles are complimented by a sling or bayonet where pistols appear foolish or cluttered. You don't need an NFA stamp to put a vertical foregrip on a rifle. The carrying of pistols is more often prohibited or restricted than that of long guns. But, to each his own.

No, but I feel so complimented that you gave me undeserved credit for an unintended witty response.

And getting one in pistol version will not help with accuracy. Shorter sight radius. Harder to hold in a way conducive to getting good accuracy. A shoulder fired version is going to be easieer to make hits with. Especially one with heavy rounds forward of the pistol grip.

Also, don't sell the AK short on accuracy. I've seen WASR 10/63 rifles hitting 6x10 metal plates at 300 yds on a regular basis. I don't know if it would have been as easy with a pistol version.

Well, then it doesn't really matter then, does it? Rifle or pistol, you'll be able to say you have one. For rifle cal pistols I guess I kind of like the AR because it still has the buffer tube that can give you an emergency cheek weld. For AKs I like a buttstock.

I was also stating that an AK is often more accurate than some people give it credit for.
