M1a1 loads

    Need some help I'm looking for a good powder. I have imr4895 and varget. 150Gr hpbt. Is imr4895 a good powder?

    4895 is a very good powder. Ramshot is another good one. .
    IMR 3031 can be useful too.

    Accurate arms 2520 is a really good powder. Its even nicknamed the "camp perry powder" for its use in the m1a rifles.

    Lol, sorry auto correct thinks I have an abrams. Thanks for the posts, what amount of powder should I start at with 150gr hpbt?

    I'd get a reloading manual and start with the starting loads and work up. Each rifle will be a bit different.

    I have loaded thousands of rounds to be shot through my NM M1A. Because the rounds are being shot through a semi-auto rifle the powder selection range is narrower than that for a bolt-action. I have had great results from Varget, IMR4895, IMR4064 and IMR3031.
