Anyone have a Springfield m1a?
I'm getting work done to mine soon. Does the barrel have to be changed on a national match to be a super match. I found heavy barrels online for about 400$. I was quoted roughly 600$ to have it turned into a super match. But I had to cut the conversation short and did not ask all the details yet.
What flavor NM barrel does it have now? Military NM barrel or a stainless NM barrel from Douglas, Kreiger, Hart, etc.?
M1As are kind of an expensive PITA to make really accurate and have it last. Most folks would be better off with an AR based rifle if they want accuracy without a lot if hassle. The M1A is a good battle rifle though with a nice long sight radius and a sweet trigger that makes it tempting though.
I would spend the money on glass not a barrel!
You get an extra twist in a super match. I have a national match and am very happy. 3/4 to 1" at 200 yds scoped and with Black hills 168g match and the same with my own loads. Break in the barrel. Get the Otis cleaning system for 7.62x51. the iron sights are great and use them well at 200yds. 200 is the longest available to me. Basset low mount for the scope. Take it off, put it on. No chane in zero.
Has a national match right now. I'm happy with it but I'm wanting to make it a super match. It shoots very well but I want to make it a super. I already acquired a m1200 ART SCOPE. waiting on my mount
It's factory Springfield barrel
How does it shoot right now with the current barrel? I'd try to wear out your existing barrel before swapping. Unless you shoot better than the rifle is capable of.
I already have an m1200 art scope. Leatherwood m1200. Utube it. For the money it a great scope. I've had it on my AR AND IT DOES EXACTLY what it shows on utube. Search m1000 leatherwood on utube. The m1200 is its big brother.
you will never know the accuracy of any barrel till you get the recvr bedded into the stock
I had it professional done when I bought the sage ebr stock. It's real accurate now but I'm just kicking around the super match idea
Yes, I have one. What would you like to know about them?
