Hey everyone I'm new to this site but have been hunting and shooting for most of my life. I was wondering if any of you can help me out with the valuation of an M1 garand made in 1939( I was told) that I have the option to purchase. This M1 is from the springfield armory and has a four digit serial # 7---. Not sure if it is the original stock but the metal plate at the end of the stock has been replaced with a wood end piece. The rest of the stock is in good condition. Also there has been a weld done on the inside reciever chamber to reform a worn part. Besides that the rifle appears in good shape. Should I overlook the other flaws to obtain an M1 with a four digit serial #???
