Hi im getting into reloading, especially for my m1 garand. Ive heard alot of rumors with reloading for an m1, be it gas in the face or an op-rod through the arm. I moreless want to know:
    What
    Primers-
    Powder-
    Bulletsize-
And how much the load should be for each powder, thanks

Buy an up to date reloading manual, and go from there

i use w748 powder, 168 sierra matchking bthp, any large rifle primer works fine, charge weight 47grains, coal is 3.240

this data is directly from hornady 8th edition m1 garand specific loads.

the hornady 8th edition is a pretty good manual i recommend it as its got a LOT of specific to certain types of guns in common caliber loadings. strongly recommend that manual if your into garand shooting. i just load only garand safe loads for 30-06 since they work just fine in my 03A3 no need to have cartridges that arent going to work in both.

Any large rifle primer will do just fine.

Powders should be on the fast burn side for the 30-06. Powder in the 4350 and slower burn rate can be hard on the Opt rod.

Bullets from 150-180gr will work fine.

How much powder to load? The answer to that is in your manuals. Please tell us you have reloading manual(s) and you have read them. Also check all the powder manufacturer's web sites for accurate and up-to-data load data.

I have a lot of manuals haha, i was just wondering if anybody had a "must try" load. My first "batch" used hodgdongs ( i really slaughtered that) BLC2. It turned out nice but im a little iffy on the primers, they were just normal federal large rifle primers. I have been told to look for "harder" primers. Any help there?

Right now sucks, because you cant really have a preference for primers, due to the shortage in reloading supplies. Everyone is just settling for what they can find. I load for a SA m1a and i can say from personal experience that slam fires do happen, not always but on rare occasions.

I use W-748 and BLC-2 on the -06 for Garands. 147 gr FMJBT or 150 FMJ. I go 2 grains under book max and find most run of the mill Garands will shoot groups 1/3 the size of Milsurp M-2 ball

Wideners has some M2 rounds but they are copper instead of steel, perfect for the Garand. I just ordered 1k of them, good deal.
