I've shot quite a bit of everything out of mine except Remington. CCI, Winchester 333/555, Federal all run fine. The problem that will crop up from time to time is when I don't get the stagger right in the mag.

    Smith 22LR

I have 2 that have yet to have an issue, prob. 3000 rounds thru each one. I could not be happier. I have a 22LR upper I bought that has given me nothing but grief, no matter what ammo I try. I can tell you that I clean the Smith's thourghly after each use and lube.

A buddy love the Fed. ammo for his but I buy the cheapest. I hear Winchester is coming out with a 22LR ammo just for these kinds of 22's. Should be well received.

Might try CCI Mini mags to break it in. 4 or 500 rds should do it. Then switch to Federal bulk pak.

Thats what I did with both of mine and had zero problems. Like bman said, keep it clean, that helps too. Good luck with the new rifle!

Look at your owners manual page 9-10, I've cut and pasted the section from a downloaded manual - however the manual that came with my 15-22 has a section stating exceptions if your 15-22 is a 'performance center' version so verify which model you have. I regularly use CCI mini mags and have never had a misfire or ftf. Two friends have the 15-22 and told me their weapons had minor issues with ftf till they had about 200 or so rounds through them.

    FROM THE MANUAL:

Based on the design and action of the M&P15-22, Smith &
Wesson recommends that you use the following brands and
types of .22LR ammunition for optimal performance in your
    M&P15-22 rifle:
    • CCI Standard Velocity • Federal American Eagle
    • CCI Mini-Mag • Federal GameShock
    • CCI Stinger • Winchester Super-X High Velocity
    • Aguila Super Extra High Velocity • Aguila Super Extra Std. Velocity

Smith & Wesson suggests that you fire several boxes of a recommended
brand of ammunition through your M&P15-22 before you
put it into regular use to determine reliability of ignition and performance
of your ammunition. If “failure to fire” or other issues
should occur, try different recommended brands and types until a
    reliable load is found.

Through our testing, Smith & Wesson has also found that there
are several brands and types of .22LR ammunition that do not
perform consistently or reliably. Consequently, Smith & Wesson
DOES NOT RECOMMEND that the following brands or types of
.22LR ammunition be used in your M&P15-22 rifle:
    • Remington Golden Bullet • Remington Thunderbolt
    • Remington Target 22 • Winchester Wildcat
    • Any and all sub-sonic brands and types

ok about jaming! its not always ammo.are you cleaning the rifle barrel after shooting it.with hoppe's gun cleaner.open the upper recever and spray it in there let it set for about 10 mins.to get the carbon out.use small drops of oil on parts.put rifle back together then see if that helps.it will make your shot 100% better.

I just can't get thru even 5 consecutive rounds on my CMMG without a jam. I've tried sprays and have yet to shoot 200 rounds because it's so frustrating.
    Thoughts?

My 15-22 does not like Federal or Remington. It has performed well with CCI mini-mags, Winchester red box bulk, and Blazer.

I have been putting only Blazer CCI 40 gr, the one time I put a Remington round I had to put back together the extractor. I had no FTF's with Blazer CCI's on any .22LR's rifle or pistol.

My son's 15-22 does not like the remington bulk. It seems to fire most everything else with no problem.

Try shooting some CCI Stingers if you can find some. Other than those I'd stick with just plain CCI.

I have a few 50 round boxes of the stingers; but, the Smith prefers the Blazer CCI. I just picked up Federal 550 pack for the Ruger, see how they do.

I don't know if anyone said this or not, check your owners manual, my colt m4 22 has a bolt in the rear or the upper receiver, I was shooting centrion target ammo through it and it jammed I adjusted the bolt accordionaly and it didn't jam as much I think it was 1 in every 60 rounds it did the same thing through the ruger 10/22 so I assume the rest was just the ammo.

I'm not aware of any such bolt or adjustment on the M&P.
