Looking for a .22 for my son. Got a line on a decently priced M&P. Reviews look good, but thoughts on holding out for a Ruger 10/22 of Marlin 60 instead? This would be for plinking mostly.

Go for the 15-22. In my opinion better than the other two. Not that the Ruger or Marlin are not quality rifles, the Smith is just better.

You can't go wrong with a ruger 10/22. Hell buy 10 of them, if you get lucky enough to find one. I can't say for the Marlin 60 as I do not own one but generally I have heard that marlines are great, light little guns. Either way, I would start him off with a 10/22.

I have a 10/22 carbine and a 10/22 compact. Love em both. I also have a Colt M4 22lr. Guess which one my son grabs off the wall everytime we go out to shoot?

Thanks. Went with the M&P. It was the only one I've seen and being on the AR platform it would offer him some additional experience without sacrificing accuracy. My LGS has a number of Ruger 10/22's in stock. It was so tempting to buy two rifles.

You'll love it. Have one. It's my more fun than a barrel of monkeys gun.

This is my wife's toy. Chiappa m4-22 lower with an ATI omni-22 upper.

I own both the 10/22 and the 15-22. Despite having modded the 10/22 with a trigger, auto bolt-release, etc., the 15/22 comes with me to the range way more often. I guess it depends on the POU, which for me is mostly plinking.

You'll enjoy it! Slap a cheap red dot on it and you'll have hours of cheap fun.

It's coming! 24-hr waiting period. Will have it this afternoon if I can get back over there. Then just need to find time to get to the range this weekend.

I'll tease you though with some .22LR for $0.08/rd (450 rounds) and 9mm for $0.27/rd (200 rounds) I picked up yesterday. :D And hopefully they have more today.

Will have to see if the Remy will go through it, but it was available so bought it.

Nice. What scope do you have on it? Not sure what I want to do with optics on it for him, but thinking red dot.

I didn't know Centurian made .22lr. Thought that was buck and ball for a sec.

I did some checking on Centurion and haven't seen any complaints. Considering the current state of things, figured I'd give it try. Can't find much else.

Anyways, I was able to go grab it - here it is (with more ammo)! Feels great! Now to find time this weekend to get out and run some through it.

Mine's on it's way to the factory for repair, it had lots of feeding and extraction probs. I can't wait to get it back.

It's some no name that we picked up from a local gun show. 3-9x40 lifetime warranty. Seems pretty solid. Quality is close to that of the Burris that I have on my Weatherby. I think we paid about $80 if I remember correctly.
