    Its a German cap lock from around the 1840s Designed by Lorenz Bossel.

    It has silver mounts & inlay

    front plus rear sights that flip up
    [​IMG]
    I want to know if its special or rare.

    And the approximate value.

    Very nice! Unfortunately, I think the repair to the wrist will drop collector's value quite a bit.

    Antiques like this one are their own field- it would really take an appraisal from someone that works with Early Euro guns a lot- and sales of these are so infrequent, there is no real "average market value".

    BTW, if you have not already done so, would be prudent to use a cleaning rod, and check to make sure there is not a load in there. Found one from the 1830's about 6 months ago- loaded.

    What gun is the one laying belly up that looks to have a pistol grip stock ? It's not the same gun as the other pictures. But the [ drilling? ] is a very nice gun,that the cap/patch box cover is still with the gun is a miracle.
