The front blade on my 22/45 has come loose again. It makes for an entertaining sight picture shot to shot. Can I presume Loctite is the answer? Or would I be doing irreparable harm and thus subject myself to interrogation by the Ruger Police?

    You Are Correct

You presume correctly. Loctite is the answer but I wouldn't use the permanent Loctite.

You could also take a small nail set and in the dove tail area strick two nail set dimples in dove tail of the barrel just like you would set a nail. It will push a bit of metal up next to the set and let you install the sight and still adjust it.

I have thrown caution to the wind and did in fact purchase and apply the impermanent Blue Loctite. (Which oddly, is in a RED tube.) For this act, I was rewarded with my tightest groups yet. I fear not visitation by representatives of the Sturm, Ruger & Co., and their empty threats of voided warranty.

(@hardluk1: The Mk III 22/45 does not use a dovetail joint f/t front blade.)

I've actually quit using Loctite...since I have so many home projects going I'm now using Clear silicone...bathroom version.

    Works the same...
