This is my first ar15 and I'm looking for some ammo choices. Also what is the difference between 223 and 5.56??

If you have a 5.56 chamber you can use either 5.56 or .223 ammo. Try a little steel case .223 and see if your AR likes it for plinking and practice. 20-25 cents a round if you look around. For more serious ammo there are lots of good choices.

I finally had a malfunction w/ 62gr Tula. I tried a few things in the past but nothing ever happened until today. The funny thing is I wasn't trying. The round chambered in normal fashion but went click, soft primer strike/hard primer. I reloaded the round and it went bang. Well S-O-B...

30 min. ago UPS dropped off 1k rounds of Wolf 55gr Military Classic so we'll see how that goes.

What I'm saying is I have put a good amount of Tula down range w/ only the 1 issue. Lube is your friend.

PMC .223 55GR is a pretty good deal if you want reloadable non crimped brass approx 25-28 cents a round on sale.

+1 on the trying steel cased ammo , just buy a couple boxs and try it if it doesnt run it your out less than $10 , much better than buying 1000 rds and not being able to shoot them .

So I can either buy 5.56 or 223 with no problem?

Tula is not consistent with their primer seating and their primers are on the hard side. I have a Mini 30 and I can shoot Wolf or Silver Bear with no problems but I have 16 out of 40 Tula fail to fire on the 1st try. PITA to sit there for 30 seconds or so before you chamber another round. I did not try any Tula in my AR after the trouble with the Mini. Wolf functioned fine in the AR. Aim Surplus has 223 in 55 and 62 grn under $230/1000 shipped.http://www.aimsurplus.com/catalog.aspx?groupid=156&name=.223/5.56x45

Not in my experience. Do you think there might be a problem w/ your Mini? Maybe an underpowered spring?
