Hello! I have recently been in the market to buy a new rifle and I have had my eyes on eather the .308 or the .223 caliber and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a rifle. I have around 650$ and i really like the body of the FAL, the AR-10 and the Scar-H thanks and have a nice day. :)

Well, if you are just plinking I would recommend something in .223/5.56 due to the cost of .308. I can't find .308 for less than .90ish cent's per round where I live, and most of it stocked where I live is the much more expensive hunting ammo.

If you're looking to save money, don't go near building an AR15. Not that they're expensive, but you'll end up wanting to build more AR15s. Lol.

    Get a S&W M&P 15 sport. A 20rd box of Tula will run $5 at Walmart.

Just make sure when your looking at the M&P your looking at the sport. My M&P ran me $1,400 but its not the sport.

Lol it's not .223 anyway. I'm more of an AR guy myself but I do won't an AK just to have one. I've heard mixed reviews about the wsar. But for $450 why not.

Hey I'm not the one who said I HAD to have a 556. I just decided on the platform that I liked better. If I am spending money on anything, gun or not. I am going to buy something I actually want. I would spend the $450 on a new press.

If you do find a SCAR H for $650 let us know though. I'd buy a few at that price.

There is nothing wrong with a Delton or a DPMS. Both weapons will stand up to casual shooting. My brother sends a 500 round box of cheap 5.56 ammo each time my niece comes out. She manages to shoot it all in a week, along with 550 22LR rounds. I have two DPMS.

When I shoot DPMS or a Delton all I shoot are golf balls. I run out of grass before the golf ball is out of range. I know golf balls aren't the same as punching paper. Golf balls are harder to hit than paper. Most of the time I am guessing where the center of the golf ball is located. The grass covers all but the top of the golf ball.
