Hey guys I am new to the forum but have been shooting for about 4 years. I currently own 2 shotguns and am looking to get a .22LR. I was looking at the Walther G22. Has anyone here owned or shot this gun? What are the pros and cons? Thanks for the help guys.

No replies yet? I don't have one, but for what it's worth, I don't think you can go wrong with a quality brand, and Walther is well known for their quality. I also hear the Ruger MK III pistols are a good choice. All .22's can be ammo sensitive, and some experimentation may be needed to find the one yours likes.

I have a SigArms Mosquito .22 pistol, which is very ammo sensitive and tends to get dirty and jam after only about 200 rounds or so. Shoots good when it shoots though.

I'm a MONSTER fan of the little Ruger 1022 in any of it's forms. I just love that little rifle, and the sky is the limit with all the neet stuff that's made aftermarket for them. They have a huge following.

+1 I've got two 10/22's that I've done assorted mods to - triggers, stock, scopes, threaded barrels ... You'll start with a $200 rifle and end up spending what ever your wallet can bear on 'em.

Henry Lever. Nice and easy to shoot, good smooth action and trigger. World's first assault rifle too. (in the original configuration and company of course)

I like the old remington 500 series bolt actions. Mine will shot with any production 22 rim fire out there today. .6" 5 shot 50 yard groups with WWB.

Ruger 10/22s are accurate, inexpensive and bullet proof.

    I own a Marlin 60, a 10/22, Steven's bolt-action, and just bought a Henry leveraction. Of the 4, I like the Henry best.
But it's a personal decision only you can answer.
for me, the answer was "all of the above".
So go shopping. .22s are cheap

I like the way you think. Lever guns are the most fun.
The Ruger 10/22 is OK, but it's a "Belly Button" gun, everybody has one.
I have several .22 lever guns and I love em' all.
There's my Ithaca Model 49 that looks like crap but shoots like a champ. I also have a nice minty Winchester Model 250 and it's twin brother Model 255 in .22 WMR. But my absolute favorite is my Browning BL-22 (grade II) Short-throw action, bright mirror blue and gorgeous wood. It's almost too pretty to shoot.
The sad thing is that none of these rifles are made anymore................
If you want something in current production, the Henry is tough to beat. BTW, tube fed magazines are exempt from the 10 round limit that some states have on the books, and will continue to be exempt even if the next administration reinstates the former ban that was in effect under Klinton.

Everyone has one because they're simple, easy to shoot and function flawlessly 99.999% of the time. The 10/22 that I learned to shoot on 25 years ago hasn't been cleaned since I first shot it, yet I can borrow it and split a couple of bricks between my brother and I and never have a single jam or misfeed.

The action isn't elegant and the trigger is the best, but Ruger produced what is possibly the world's most popular rifle, and for good reason.

Matt I don't believe you own a gun that you have never cleaned...

I picked up a Ruger 10/22 this past Friday. Put a bunch of rounds through it over the weekend and it's a really decent shooter.

I got mine on sale from Cabela's for $229 with a scope.

+1 for the 10/22. There is a reason that it is one of the best selling 22lr ever produced.
