I'm looking in to buying this optic but have yet to talk to someone with any hands on experience. So, anyone using this optic or if you have any suggestions of similar (hopefully cheaper) options, Let me know what's up. I really like the idea of the red dot sitting on top of the 4X scope. Any thoughts?

i would go acog with doctor sight on top if you reallllly gotta do that two sight thing.

the hamr is just their craptastic cqt scope with a rds on it.

ive tried both and the sight on top is kinda useless to be honest, i have to come up off a good solid cheek weld to use the rds. of course thats just my personal taste

Thanks gents Ill keep my eyes peeled for a good priced ACOG, maybe used. I actually was questioning if the red dot on top was useful or practical when you use it so this helps a lot.

It's useful for what it was put there for. Emergency.

ill say this about acogs.

ive dropped mine twice now once from shoulder height practicing in the dim lighted basement tripped over the cat and it landed acog down on the concrete bounced and hit again. the next weekend at the range i knocked it off the bench it hit the concrete floor with the acog taking the impact.

still held zero no breakage.

i dont recomend doing it on purpose. but im thoroughly convinced that anything that will destroy the acog and render it inoperable is probably going to destroy the rifle and you with it. i think it would have to be on the order of an obama drone strike.

mine is on a adm qd mount with matach rear buis. front is fixed a2 base.

not a totally up to date pic as ive since replaced the magpul rear with a matech and the larue pos mount with a adm

its a bravo company bfh upper with bravo company lower and magpul furniture bravo company gunfighter grip replacing the a2 and gunfighter charging handle.

i need to get an uptodate pic soon.

Nice rig JonM, how do you like that Larue mount? I'm thinking about a quick release Larue I saw on a buddies gun. I'm just getting my set up started. So far I'm running a M&P15, MOE for-grip, MOE stock, MAGPUL BADD lever, Troy battle ax grip, MAGPUL flip up sights, PMAGs, and I just picked up a MAGPUL single point sling adapter and a sling but have to get the castle nut tool before I throw it on. next step is optics so I'm saving my pennies cuz that's not exactly something I can just slip by the wife:smackshead: I really am trying to keep weight down above all else on this gun. I have another build I'm just getting started on for a longer range AR in 308. So that can be my heavy gun. Here she is so far.
