I own a 1943 Lee Enfield Mk 4, which I plan to use for deer hunting in western PA. The factory sights come with a front site post that is zeroed for 300 yards with the larger fixed peep combat sights. Unfortunately, with the dense woods and hills in Western PA, the longest shot is 100yds and most shots are 50yds. I understand that after market front sights are available to bring the point of impact down. Does anyone know where to buy these?

Have you tried Brownells? Sounds like you need a taller front post. I have a SMLE No.1MKIII but the rear sight is the ladder type on the barrel not the receiver. You might measure your front post height and compare to the MKIII, maybe the MKIII sight is taller, or you can do as I did and put a scope on it. It made the rifle a real tack driver!

Thanks. I shall check for Brownells.

Are you active duty now? What is your MOS?
Not since 1979....that's my son's pic who deploys to Iraq this July - I figured I'd keep his pic up until he comes home...

I tried www.gunparts.com, but it brings me to a generic site as though it is not a valid URL. There are just a bunch of links to other general gun sites.
I think he meant www.gunpartscorp they used to be called Numerich Arms..in West Hurley NY - they are the makers of Auto Ordinance products like the 1911 and Thompson.
