In loading data online and in books the suggested auto disk measure seems to be off by at least .5 gr when weighed on a scale. Is this common, is my scale off, has anyone else found this?

I have found the same thing with my lee setup. A few reloading threads I have read suggest coating the plastic hopper with graphite to eliminate static. I have coated mine but have not had time to try it out.

  3. The discrepancy is 'built in' to the design, sort of.

With the variance in manufacturing powder, lot to lot, Lee decided to make sure the settings for the disc was not MORE than the listed amount. (It is in their literature, or was at one time at least. I've got stuff that's over twenty years old.) Sometimes it's less, sometimes it's a lot less.

Also, I found the Lee disc measure a right pain when using other than extruded stick powder. Small grain ball powder leaks more out the joints than flows through the drop. The disc settings are a great idea, but were never worth the difficulties involved. It's the only Lee product I cannot recommend fully and without reservation.

Even the biggest Lee fans don't like the auto disk. Lee has a lot of good products but they do have a few losers.

The amount of powder it throws is consistent just not as much as they claim for disk.

Gee, I don't know a single "Lee fan" that does not enjoy/love/like/use/respect the Lee Pro Auto-Disk. It is so good that Dillon licenses the design for their powder measure.
Yes, the Lee numbers are almost always set to the safe region so even if someone doesn't weight the charges, they can't get in trouble if they can at least use the "correct" disk.
I really wish there was some way to attach an Excel file.
If you can copy-and-paste the following, it has my actual measured and estimated weights for the various cavities:
Lee Cavity "Marked" vs Charge Weight
    Powder\Disk Cavity 0.12 0.15 0.18 0.21 0.24 0.27 0.30 0.32 0.34 0.37 0.40 0.43 0.46 0.49 0.53 0.57 0.61 0.66 0.71 0.76 0.82 0.88 0.95 1.02 1.09 1.18 1.26 1.36 1.46 1.57

    Here's one.
I own two Dillons and have no problem with their powder measures and there isn't any disks with numbers.
