Howdy, I got me a 10mm, haven’t bought a factory round yet and I don’t plan to.
I have tried a couple loads with some XTP’s and Barry’s plated flat tip, both in the 180gr offering……however I have only used one powder so far, Blue Dot.
My current favorite is the max listed from Hornady for their XTP in 180 at 10.7gr. It shoots great for me

I am very interested to hear what others are doing and what other powders folks are using. I am not going to lie, I want a hot round…..that’s why I bought a 10 and I don’t even remotely want it to resemble 40S&W in ballistics…just me no offence meant. I am thinking about AA#9 next and I don’t particularly want to go below 180gr projo.

I have some 180gr Gold Dot's in the wings, waiting for a load

Please share your 10mm pet loads and knowledge with me

The pistol is going to be used as a woods carry and back up for big game hunting in bear and cougar country……I am starting to CC it as well, guess I really like it

My Idpa load was 6.4 gr imr sr4756 and a 155gr fp. Of course it was very light.

For hot ones, I used BD, unique and power pistol.

I've found 155 FMJ (Remington) and HS-6 or AAC#7 to give me my best results.

I've tried most of them over the last 50 years, and today, I use HS-6 almost exclusively for 9MM, 10MM, .40, .45, and.38 special. Power Pistol, Herco and AAC7 have worked very well also..

Herco is a real P.I.T.A. to meter, but it gives great results if you have the patience to mess with it.:D

BTW, IME these three powders work best with fairly heavy loads.

I too, use Blue Dot. Not because it is better than others, but because it is a versitile powder. I also use it for hot .40's and 12 ga buckshot and slugs. I can buy in bulk and save.

Be careful with the Berry's plated bullets int he Glock barrel. The plating may be too thin to prevent Kb's. Look at Powerbond bullets. They are plated, but the plating is MUCH thicker than most plated bullets.

Good point. I've also had good luck with Rainiers.

But the last few years, I've just "bitten the bullet":D so to speak and paid a few bucks more for bulk Remington FMJ.

Thanks a ton guys, I wrote Barry's and they simply replied "keep em below 1250fps"....I did but the group wasn’t that great, but this is my first Glock and I am still learning to have a good constant trigger finger. I gave a lot of BD as well from slugs and buck. Seems like this powder does a lot.

Seems like FMJ is really only very slightly more $ than plated these days. Dosnt even seem worth it to go plated anymore.

I have used Berry's 180's, with only so-so results. Lead too soft, I think. I like 2400, and Herco (even with all the pain of measuring), am still working up loads with AA #9--clean, low flash and meters great! Temperature sensitivity is the only complaint so far.

I use BHN 15 cast slugs at .001-.002 over bore with VooDoo lube at 1200-1300 fps in my G-20, and no leading to speak of. Any that does show wipes out with a tight patch.

Montana gold or Extreme bullets. Forget Barry's and Ranier.
+1 on Extreme bullets. They are great and very good pricing if you order direct from them. All of their online pricing includes shipping.

I use only the plated bullets and load them to min charge jacketed velocities. I've ordered one box of the hollow points and they were alright, but not something I would load for a carry round. I'll post a pic of one later for you.

I misspoke.

PRECISION DELTA, not Montana Gold. MGs prices went up astronomically last year. PD is still reasonable.

We cut some of the extremes in half, and the plating is as thick as jacketed

AMEN
ETC ETC

That's why I don't use plated anymore. I know exactly what I'm loading with W-W or Remington FMJ. And if I so desire, I can drive them to absolute maximum. (I don't recommend that, though)

You know, in all my reloading of different calibers I always find the most accurate load isn’t the hottest. I don’t know if its me or the gun or what but the I have loaded 5 charges for the 10mm with BD and 180g XTP’s so far and the maximum load works best by a decent margin…..for me and that’s unusual in my experience.

Thanks for the clarification, I have been considering PD and ZERO.....and haven’t heard of the extremes till you all mentioned them. Also considering Hornady HAP…..guess I better s#it or get off the pot way things are clearing off the shelves

Here is a pic of a .40 hollow point. It's a hex hollow and is plated throughout.

Looks nice, better then lot of things I bet….. Aren’t Gold Dots plated? Well I always thought they were jacketed but a very experienced reloader I have no business questioning told me they were plated thick.
I like Gold Dots, still have 50 of those to load yet for the 29
