Day Three -
Wow that thing is sexy.
I just finished assembling my LR308 and have found it definitely prefers a heavier bullet. The 147 gr. stuff was all over the paper but the 175 gr. grouped very nicely. Not as nice as you have there, but OK for a first trip out.
Looks like you've got quite the set-up there.
Good range report. Is that the 18" barrel?
I don't speak all that ballistic knowledge there, but I know 2 things: That is one sexy beast and she's accurate as hell!
Beautiful! Really nice scope also.
So, I was killing steel at the range, checking cold bore shots at 500m w/ the Savage and OBR and decided to give the 1000yd line a spin w/ the OBR. First target was the VTAC silhouette and I only got two hits out of five shots on it. Because the tgt backing was so shot up I could not see where the others were going.
Put up a normal 1000yd bull and gave it another spin with 10rds. My wind call was off and it might of been fluctuating so I only have 8 hits on paper, I think the other two are off left. I just measured it to get an idea of what the spread was looking like:
Again, not an official "group" because I'm missing two that would open it up, this was just done for me to see some rough numbers.
ETA: ammo was Black Hills 175
8 out of 10 at 1000yrds with a 16" barrel ain't bad, windage not withstanding. 1000 is a long freakin way, bro, even with a 308. Good shooting. What is your scope, BTW?
