Finally got a chance to try it out with my grandson. Awesome is the only word that comes to mind. My range requires they bore-sight it first which was a good thing and we were on paper (7 o'clock, 2" low @ 300 yards) the first shot. Recoil was on par with a heavy 12 gauge with the LAR (32 lbs)....not bad but the muzzle blast/concussion is tremendous!

Great stuff. Good to see you took out your grandson to enjoy the range.

Our grandchildren live in gun-unfriendly Maryland so a visit to Texas always means range-time as well. We have given each grandchild a firearm and we are continually teaching them proper firearm handling. His 5 YO sister has a pair of cap guns that, as far as everyone is concerned, are real. She is not allowed to handle them unless under the supervision of an adult, wears eye/ear protection, and keeps her finger on the "safe-spot" unless on target. She has not fired a cap yet since we're still learning how to hold, acquire a proper sight picture, and has the strength to cock the hammer. She will progress to BB/pellet in a year or two but she is very much interested in learning. You'll note the cap guns reside in the safe along with the other firearms.

Tomorrow is .458 Lott (his choice) day for the grandson visiting and it will also involve a lot of .22LR shooting as well. He owns a Savage .22 magnum and his younger brother (8 YO) owns a .22LR Crickett....all firearms live in the safe though and the same handling rules apply to them as they do to their sister.
