So I started a thread about my disappointment with La Rue Tactical's (complete absence of) customer service. Many of you fellow AR builders/shooters expressed your experience differed from mine and that their products were amazing and do business in the same way.

Let me start by quoting some of La Rue's rhetoric from their website:

Alright y'all, we've caved in to the onslaught of requests by all you LT-Stealth Upper owners who absolutely insist upon having a LaRue lower. At long last, here's your chance to build a complete LaRue rifle.

"These stripped-lowers are CNC-machined from billet 7075 aluminum and are anodized deep-black to match our Stealth products. In an effort to provide only the finest hardware, each LT-branded lower was subject to stringent quality control processes, and test-fitted to Stealth uppers before shipping to insure fit and color match.

Well after finally getting my order one month after being charged and having to pull teeth in order to get a rep on the phone. . . here's what I received. (look at pics. . . )

The 2 receivers do not even mate up. I mean AT ALL it took some careful hammering to get them where you see them, but I'll have to take it out back to get 'em apart w/o destroying them. The color is obvious. I'm completely baffled. I'm expecting a total refund and compensation for all my wasted time w/ CS and transfering, etc. we're talking $500

When I got the box, I checked the lower and did the transfer, gave all my little trinkets away as I have them all from previous mount orders, which were perfect, BTW. I didn't open the upper 'till I got home and my heart sank. :(

Wow, that's terrible, and really disappointing, because I am a LaRue fan big time. You deserve some satisfaction from them.

But why start another thread instead of just posting in the old one?

So they are both La Rue, and they fit like that?! Thats outrageous. I would send them both back and deal with someone else. If I'm seeing correctly, the pin holes don't line up, and the colors are waaaaay off. WOW.

The upper wont fit any firther back? In the top pic it looks like it could.

    The color is off though.

That sucks to have to go through. The excitement of waiting then that.

I guess you cant get it 100% a 100% of the time.

That is just plain poor! Send it back, and keep us posted. It gives me second thoughts about dealing with them when ready for my AR build!! :(

Well, I guess I haven't put it in a vise and smacked it with the sledge yet. But, yes, by hand I cannot even move them where they sit, let alone get them apart. . . and I'm not even gonna try to move them in to place, then there won't be anything left to send back to them.

And lony, I started a new thread, because the last one was in regards to customer service, which was pathetic enough to deserve its own thread and this is definitely pathetic enough to have its own thread.

I've gotten receivers that totaled 15% of this set, from different manufactures, years apart in production and matched up better than this. . .

I'm completely baffled. . . I gave these folks the benefit of the doubt on the customer service issue, being that it was close to the SHOT show and all. I was also born and raised in Abilene, TX not far from where these folks operate, so I didn't even think that I'd be dealing with something like this. I just don't get it. . .

What a letdown. That is just plain unacceptable Diggs. Are you a member on AR15.com? It looks like LaRue posts in their section in the Industry forum fairly regularly. Perhaps if you post your pics and issue in there you may get some quicker action. I'd try to keep the first post pretty neutral and not express your anger over the deal right away, if you can.

I think that's good advice right there, but only as more of a last resort. I would go the phone call routine first and see how they respond.

I wouldn't think LaRue would want a blemish like this to affect their good name.

Yeah, and when you call, ask if you've reached LaTaurus. Sorry for your luck bro.

    Diggs,

There is no excuse for that kind of quality and they need to fire any employee that would even send that kind of junk out the front door. Obviously this is not the only set they have like this! What has been their total response to this issue in detail?
I would make one attempt to rectify a situation like this and then I would probably show the pics on AR-15.com if they did not respond promptly and professionally to take care of the issue. I had always heard they made good product but this is CRAPP!

Hand fitted, what a joke. Yeah definitely stay on them until they make this right, Diggs. Are you sure this isn't Vulcan, not LaRue? Unbelieveable but your pictures don't lie. They have to make this right or I'd join every AR site I could find and post these pics until they give in.

The lower looks good, does it fit other uppers you have? It's the upper that looks like surplus M16. It would be nice not to have to mess with FFL/new serial # all over again.

What I put in bold above is exactly what I was thinking. The lower doesn't look bad, but I'm gonna have to put this thing in a vise to separate it before I will know if it fits another upper.

I'm just leaning towards a different route completely. These guys have caused me enough grief as it is over the past month. I can't afford another messing around with these people.

This rifle is (eventually) going to be my Dad's. This entire build was for him as his AR inventory currently doesn't have a precision DGI rifle in it. Everything is SBR and/or piston OP. Every part of this build was hand selected to be nothing but the best.

As far as how to deal with this. I already sent another e-mail to both of their departments with the pics you see attached. I can't call from work at all (government regs.), but if I have to, the wife can do it. However, if I don't have a response by end of business tomorrow I will begin other methods.

Man, I'm not this kind of guy that likes drama and controversy. :( If they only would've treated me well and got me a quality product, I would have probably ordered one for my own billet build that's coming soon. . .

Might I suggest MEGA for the next billet upper and lower.

Sounds like the take-down pin tabs on the upper are to thick.

Anyway, I wouldn't go onto arfcom. Id call them and calmly explain the situation. Making a negative post w/o allowing the manufacturer the op. to make it right isn't fair.

How was your last conversation w/ Laure? If it was a nasty one they may have sent you an F'd up set on purpose to make you go away. Ive personally done something similar myself, although in a different industry. From a supplier aspect sometimes its not worth it. Of course this is just a "maybe" scenario.

Just remember, more bees w/ honey. I'm sure they'll make it right.

Well good luck Diggs, hope this works out. I wouldn't want the lower either if you have to use that much force to separate the upper from it. You didn't buy a blem, and no blem is this bad anyway.

Really shoddy from a manufacturer with the reputation of LaRue. I don't own anything by them because they're out of my budget but always assumed you get what you pay for.

Diggs no doubt got a bad deal, but I doubt a company with LaRue's reputation for great products and service would do something like that. Especially not in today's Internet age.
