So I was cleaning my Kimber tonight and I noticed something....the plunger tube has started to work itself loose. So much so that when the safety is in the safe position the tube stands off the frame a solid 1/16". This is my carry gun but I cannot carry it in such a state. I plan to contact Kimber tomorrow to see what their thoughts are on this. I know the gun is out of warranty but IMHO, this should never happen so we'll see what they say.

Just to let everyone know I called Kimber yesterday and told them about the issue. The guy I talked to responded with two options. I can send the gun back to them and they will fix it which will take 5-6 weeks once received or they can send me a new plunger tube and I can do it/have it done. My new tube should be here in the next few days.

I was very happy with the service, especially since I bought the gun used and it is almost 10 years old.

Don't restake the old one. You will have problems later and end up replacing it anyways.

If you don't have the tools, you may want to sent it back, but with your building another, you should not have a problem. ;)

I've already decided not to restake the old one and to install the new one. While the gun is apart I'm going to replace anything that is needed. I'm also planning to change the MSH as currently it still has the stock plastic one which I hate.

Cane, by asking them to send me a replacement it gave me yet another excuse to buy that exact tool.....best part about it, my wife agreed!

Call Alan Smith (Smith & Alexander) 888-722-1911 and get yourself the best MSH made. Take a look at his Mag-Guide options.

OK, so now I'm having another thought.....Should I bob it?

ONLY if you want it. I see the bob'd receiver as a style choice, not a function enhancement. YMMV
