Okay so last weekend I ended up picking up a Glock 30, used, and
planned to go to the range this weekend with my buddy. Well we stopped
by a gun store up the road from the range as he was thinking of picking up
this MP5 clone (sort of a mix between MP5 and AR-15 looking).

Well we ended up spotting a S&W M&P 15-22 sitting next to it for
$20 more and it was also a .22LR, which was what he was looking for.
It was a steal of a deal, on sale for $380. Long story short I ended up
getting one so needless to say we're both happy campers.

Shoots beautifully, easily able to keep within 1" at 25 feet.
Only problem is it is a pain to aim with ear muffs on

So my question is- what kind of accessories would one get for it?
I know down the road I want an AR-15 (.223 caliber) and can keep
anything I buy for the M&P to be used on the AR-15...

Any ideas would be welcomed :)

Great buy on a great gun!!!

I'm in the same boat as far as the down the road AR and owning a M&P 15-22 in the meantime. I haven't done anything to mine except add some rail covers to soften the feel of the foreend. I had a cheapy holo sight on it but went back to iron sites.

If anything for accessories I would put money into a pile of magazines. It's amazing how fast you run through 25 rounds in that gun. I have 3 currently and need atleast another 3.

May I ask what rail covers you decided on?
Also can they be modified to have openings for other rail-based stuff?

And yes- the 25 round magazine goes quickly. I have already ordered 2 more.
I have been looking at possibly a foregrip and a bipod. I know the bipod would get
a work out at the range with a .223 AR but not sure how far of a distance I can realistically plan on shooting with the .22LR rounds, so not sure if I will get that or not.

Don't know what brand but the LGS had 4 of them in a baggie for $10. They just press into the rails and you can cut them for accessories.

I put the falcon industries low pro rail guard, on mine I liked the feel better than the hard plastic ones. You can find them allover (brownells, cheaper than dirt, gun shows).
    Most can be modified.
