I have had my eye on it for over 10 years. My grandfather was a collector but has no use for some of his guns anymore so he let it go cheap. Never been fired. Its the older model with the peep hole sight, wooden for grip, and folding aluminum stock.

    Looks like this.

Can anyone tell me anything I need to know about it? A little history on this model, value, etc?

I have not decided weather or not I want to mess with tac ing it out. I know black stocks are pretty expensive and it looks pretty cool the way it is. I have an AR so I can do mods to it.
    Any info appreciated!!

The model you have is very collectible, the folding stock is worth $400-500 as never been fired. This is a GB model, government with bayonet lug, prison and police jails would get these. That is awesome to have NIB!

    Very nice.

On one hand, I would say don't shoot it because it's very collectable in that condition.

On the other hand, I bet your grandfather would love to see you get some enjoyment out of it.

If it was me, I would shoot it and think of my grandfather everytime I did.

Thanks guys! I think I am going to take that stock off and keep it in the safe so it doesn't get damaged and get another one in black.
What are some good aftermarket stocks in polymer or composite or whatever?
If someone could share links I would appreciate it.

If it was mine it would stay unfired and mint but thats just me
Brownells , gunbroker, ebay , stocks are easy to find just make sure your model# or first three fit the one your buying

My Mini has been wearing a Choate folding stock for at least 25 years now.

might get more for that gun unfired! then, you'd be approaching an M1A if you sold it! :)

i wouldn't sell it though....and it'd be damn hard to keep it "unfired" if it were in my possession! :p

I wish there were. Basically there are two or three poly stocks available, but I've heard bad about all of them. One in particular needs a lot of work to get a decent fit. The easiest way to find out more about them both would be to go to Amazon.com, have a look at them, and read the comments.

    Man, what a find!

    You hit the jackpot, IMO.

If it were me, I'd leave it just the way it is. I'd keep

it and shoot it. A lot. Niiice rifle.

If it came from grandpa I'd keep it for sure. It's not every day you get something like that handed down. It's definitely stay in the family as long as I'm breathing. As far as shooting it goes, it'd sure be hard not to but I wouldn't shot it too much and make sure it stays in New condition
