Mid 70s. There was a road that ran through the college campus. Quarter mile straight away, 90-degree right turn, quarter mile straight away, 90-degree left. Then a 3/4-mile straight away off the campus.
I’m standing in a parking lot next to the second 90-degree turn. Hear a siren winding up in the background. 69 Boss 302 Mustang comes through the corner full drift, grabs third, disappears down the straight away, and off campus. Siren is getting louder. About a minute later, the campus police Cushman 3-wheeler comes putting by, siren blaring, red light flashing.
Officer glares at thirty students, standing in the parking lot, pointing and laughing.
I think I finally realized what’s wrong with me, I read Calvin and Hobbes as a child and thought it was a guide!
