In this case, the jewelry store owner who shot the attempted robber that had opened fire on a customer was NOT arrested and handcuffed AS USUAL in California.

In this rocket science case, where the jewelry store owner was obviously defending himself, the police took no action against him.

As the news story indicates, the robber is dead, one woman in the store was shot by the robber, and other accomplices are still on the loose.

A happy ending, so to speak.

A happy ending to what could have been a tragedy. And one less criminal running loose on the streets.

If more retail owners and clerks carried concealed and knew how to use them, and more women carried concealed and also knew how, there would be a lot more dead robbers, rapists, and gang bangers, and a lot less prison population.

But over half the population is afraid of guns themselves, so I can't blame these people for being born and raised wimps.

i think you have the wrong perspective about some of these people. not everyone in the current generations, especially those raised in more urban environments are or were exposed to guns used for hunting or sporting uses so they tend to not gravitate towards them like most of the more rural populations do because they grew up around them and used them. so for some their dislike or fear of guns comes from lack of exposure more than anything.

many of these are also those who straddle the fence when it comes to passing more gun laws simply because they reall have no first hand knowledge or experiance with guns. these are the ones who gun owners can influence into siding with gun owners by converting them. and their are huge numbers of them to convert if we take the opportunity to give it a chance.

so making a blanket statement like yours doesn't further our cause to gain new members of the gun community. it further seperates them when such comments are made.

It's not that they are wimps, they have been sheltered, they have no experience with firearms. Many of them would like to learn how to defend themselves better.

It is a big step to go from no experience with firearms to becoming proficient with a gun. They have something going on every weekend. Besides, everyone thinks who is going to attack me? I have been living here for 20 years, no one has been attacked.

Amen. We can't win them over by badmouthing them nor by ridiculing them. We have to address their fears and negative opinions by first being respectable citizens ourselves, then showing them the positive side of our stand.
