My parents are in Hawaii right now. They just called my sister and are headed to the nearest mountain now. The tsunami should hit Hawaii 0300 local time. I'm pretty sure the mountain they're headed for is about 8000 feet altitude so they should be safe; however the airports on the island are just above sea level.

I'll say a prayer for everyone affected.

Praying for everyone in Japan now.

While it is almost nothing, Hawaii just had a 4.5 earthquake. I wonder what's happening to mother earth...

I've ben watching it on the news for the past 30ish minutes. I know I'm going to take some heat for this statement but everytime I hear about something like this all I can think about is end time's prophecy.

I'm praying for the people in Japan, Hawaii and along the pacific coast.

Just got to work and listening to the BBC and they are saying that the waves are set to hit Hawaii in about 5 to 10 minutes and are 3 to 5 feet at this time and may or may not grow up to 20 foot hard walls of waves as they hit the coast.
Best wishes to your parents and all others involved.

dunerunner, hope your somewhere warm and dry.
Well they are evacuating the coast. I myself am up high on the mountain here in Astoria. My son lives in seaside with his mom and they evacuated at 4 this AM. They delayed our school two hours and the boss man told me to stay home and stand by to stand by. Our shop is in a flood plain.

Japan has some serious problems with their nuclear power plants. They just evacuated thousands of people surrounding one in particular.

At 7:12 the tsunami should hit Clatsop Spit which I can see at the mouth of the Columbia River.

anyone have a link with some news about how bad it hit Hawaii? I can't find anything about the damage there. How big was it? What are they expecting on the California cost?

Try Google and get the latest (sort by day/time).

From what I read about Hawaii, Cali should be fine tsunami wise but you know about the "ring of fire"...I will be more concerned about a possible chain reaction right now.

I thought they were reporting that the two quakes were unrelated?

They are two separate earthquakes but no one really knows if they are unrelated.

Auh... It's just earth's natural cycle. And with and with countless nearly immediate media sources around the world along with greater tracking and estimating data available from improved science, we just hear about all of the catastrophes far more with much more data than we used to.
