Has anyone heard of these guns? I have been hearing strange rumors that they are inaccurate and made from non-quality parts. Does anyone have any experience with an Izhmash?
+1.Izhmash Armory is the original manufacturer of the Russian Army's weapons since long before WWII. They were making AK-47s before anyone else, and they know how to do it. They still make some of the toughest and most reliable weapons in the world. They may not be as pretty as a Remington or a Browning, but if you have an AK or a Saiga made by Izhmash, it'll work.
They're imported to the US by Russian-American Armory:

I'm looking at picking up a Saiga in the next month or so. I've noticed some online dealers have them for under $300. I'm dithering over whether to get a saiga or take a chance on a Romanian AK. The quality issue has me leaning toward saiga.+1.
I have two Saiga's and they are, essentially, "civilian" versions of the AK. Not necessarily pretty, but solid as rocks and tough as nails. They were very inexpensive for the quality of the gun you were buying (most could be had for $200 or so), but the price has started going up a good bit in the past few years. The gun I paid $190 for in '04 - when they were imported by EAA - now sells for closer to $400 at the local gun shows.
