A friend recently gave me an old Iver Johnson 12 gauge shotgun, 32" barrel, what is it worth?, and how do I find out how old it is? there is a # on the breach, what does that signify? are parts available? it needs a stock, and hand grip. would like to restore it.

I am no expert on these but I have one from around the turn of the century that is in good shape and it is worth from $150-$250. It may not be worth restoring unless there is a personal reason to do so.

Why don't you stop by the introduction section and tell us a little about you and hang around for awhile. This is a great forum with a lot of good and knowledgable folks.

If it's a single barrel it's not worth the price of the wood to fix it with.

I have a single shot Iver Johnson 16 gauge champion that I've been told by several "experts" is worth about $150-200 dollars. The gun is in really good condition and about 100 years old. I thought it would have been worth more than that. I found an antique gun book that put a value on older guns and sure enough it had my gun valued at $150-$250 for a gun in very good condition. Oh well, I guess I need to win the lottery now. If it had been a double barrel 16 gauge then it would have been worth between $700 & $1200... Rats!!!!!
