To a point they did just after the election, but people soon ran out of money and credit, and sales have fallen flat. I use Cabela's as a sales barometer because they move a lot of firearms, or used to. Not anymore. Sales are very sluggish. The Hussein fear factor has died off. People are more concerned about losing their homes than they are about buying guns.

With that said Glock's continue to move like hotcakes. They are affordable, accurate, easy to operate, as well as very concealable. A 70% sales increase in this economy says a lot. Glock has exceeded that. Many gun companies are in trouble. Bill T.

I posted it in another thread, but will do it again here.

ATF just chose Gen4 G22's for their issue weapon. They put out a competitive bid to all the manufacturers, and did a 20,000 rd torture test. The Gen 4 G22 won, hands down.

    I'm not even a .40S&W fan, but that's a hell of a testing regimen.

That is simply not true. Read the article in the link I've provided. While Glock sales are up 71%, sales of Smith & Wesson pistols have in fact dropped 33%. Sales of their entire firearms line was down 10.2 %. Revenue is also expected to decline at Remington and Bushmaster. As for Ruger, after a rise of 39% even they are expecting a 27% drop off. Your post is full of false statements. Bill T.

Here is some reality instead of B.S.

    Industry Statistics Sampler: NAICS 33299

This link shows the entire monetary value and scope of the entire small arms and ammunition manufacturing industry. Just to add some context, the 2002 donut-shop industry, at $2.9 billion in sales and 756 million payroll, was nearly twice as big as the small arms manufacturing area that year.

    Industry Statistics Sampler: NAICS 722213

To put things into even better perspective, if you added up the entire gun industry in this country, their entire yearly revenue would not equal Toy's-R-Us.

Jesus I grow tired of these back and forth pissing matches. Did any of you even READ the initial link?!

First off, the article is listed from July of 2009. How they got sales figures for 2010 is beyond me.

Maybe their IT guy is asleep at the switch and it was really July of 2010. Who knows.

A 71% increase over what?! Statistics can be manipulated every which way you want. A 71% increase could be over a base that was WELL BELOW market share, in which case they are now catching up.

As this is a local Georgia paper, and Glock has a manufacturing facility in Georgia, we don't know to what extent Glock as a whole has done because they are a private company and do not have to post earnings. We don't know if someone from the paper called the local Glock PR person, that person looked at the SHIP TO numbers from last year at this same time, compared them to this years numbers and embellished it to 71%.

There is no listed base number!

As such, they may have spent untold millions developing Gen 4 and they are just treading water while they are waiting for the market to accept the product.

Example: MSFT lost their *** when they first made the X-box and went head to head with Sony. So much so that the Xbox 360 had to sell several million units just to break even on the Xbox platform before MSFT started to reap the benefits known as profit.

Everyone needs to chill out on the fanboy love and hater posts. There is nothing here that says the company is taking over the world.

    Chill the hell out!

I have to agree. I have asked the offending party to steer clear. Please refrain from posts like that above. Just flag it and talk to a moderator. Thank you.
