This includes toy gun air guns home made zip guns and other junk. A bigger problem in Chicago is the votes they sell to Liberal politicians.

I haven't seen their annual collection in a few years, but most of them are JUNK. They might be of value to collectors, most nice ones never make it to holding. Since they were evidence most have been held for many years and brought out once a year for the press to see just before they are to be destroyed. More a public relations stunt than anything else. (don't believe every thing you read) I wouldn't trust a Chicago politician any further than I could throw a railroad engine.

    Quote from the article:
In the end, the policy is about as effective as trying to prevent drownings by bailing out Lake Michigan with a coffee mug. But it's a lot more expensive.

Chicago has lost it's way...as if y'all already didn't know. Thank god we 2A minions have a Capitol City for our advocation that gun control will never work. All they're doing is creating a market for illegal guns...the politicians and bloombergers have only themselves to blame for creating an environment for such illicit activity. But are they so illegal in Texas and Arizona and states alike? Negatory. Yet, they oddly have higher crime rates with guns....weird how all that data adds up.

If gun control is so damned effective why is Chicago a war zone like a third world country? Destroying these guns is just a pro gun control publicity stunt.

It would be interesting to learn how many of these guns (junk or not) are obtained from law abiding citizens vs. gang-bangers and the like.

Chicago has law abiding citizens? Ha...that could be a valid question. But in all seriousness I would be scared to look at that ratio.

Given that all police departments are experiencing a cash crunch two million is nothing to sneeze at. Right now many areas of Chicago that need a strong police presence are not getting patrolled as often as they should. These areas are so bad Chicago PD puts two officers in a car to patrol these areas. The extra revenue might put enough officers in high crime areas to tip the scales in the favor of law abiding citizens. Hell, Chicago PD might improve it's image enough that people aren't afraid to cooperate with police.

Chicago has been a lost cause for years. why do you think it's a war zone? most of the LAC's had the sense to relocate years ago and leave it for the criminals.

i say let the criminals kill each other off and keep the cops uninvolved an out of the way.

"Chicago" is a Miami Indian word meaning "Place Of Stinking Onions". At least the city was properly named.

As my dad told me, "I don't care if criminals kill eachother, I only care when innocent people get hurt."

I particularly liked the comparison to stolen cars, and why aren't they flattened. If gun laws worked, Chicago would be like Maybery, and Andy and Barney would be working there.
