My son bought this rifle. Don't know much about it. Any comments!
Interarms are good quality rifles. They were made in Czechoslovakia and imported by various companies. They are of a much better quality than their price point would seem to indicate. They are a Mauser action, accurate and solidly built.
Please post pictures of the rifle and its markings if you can. If not, please post the information marked on the barrel.

There are two companies that have been known as CZ. One is based in the Czech Republic and is best known for 22 rifles such as the CZ 452. The other is based in what is now Serbia and is now know as Zastava. They are the ones who made the Interarms Mauser. If you remove the action from the stock, you should find MADE IN YUGOSLAVIA on the tang. They are a good solid Mauser action.
Interarms imported 2 different designs back in the 80's. 1 was a mauser design the other was the howa. Both shoot well with the mauser haveing a chrome bore back then. Ether one should be a fine hunting rifle.
you have probably what other folks are trying to build today ....a very rugged ,accurate ,and the bigggest + durability ....great rifle ....spend some extra $ get him a custom thumbhole laminate stock in black/grey or my new favorite ...cinnamon/black for Christmas!
Are you sure about the Interarms Mauser having a chrome bore? There's no mention of it in the user's manual.
It does say the barrel is made of chrome vanadium steel, but that's not the same thing.
Perhaps you are thinking of the JC Higgins Model 50, which used an FN Mauser action and did have a chrome bore.
They did back in the 80's. I had a 7mm rem mag model that aprt of the info in the manual said chrome bore. I do konw the difference. No it was not another brand
