I can't believe that deer didn't take off running after that first shot.

The rabbit was the target form day one. It was all part of the bucks plan..mmwwaaaahahhahaaaaa!!

WOC..Many times a deer will look to see what made the noise and might not run if they don't see the shooter. Seems weird but it happens a lot.

DJ is correct... any dear hunter "who's honest" enough to admit ever missing a shot will confirm that not only do "missed" deer usually freeze, look around, and go to back to grazing but...

I've often seen "other" deer do the same thing when a member of their heard gets shot. Loud band, loud thwap of the bullet impact, struck deer takes off... or drops dead... and the rest of them just look around and go back to grazing.

    Not to smart... but tasty!

Yeah, then he would have hit the deer instead of the rabbit. LOL

I have to wonder. How much of the rabbit was left after the hit? I can tell you what a groundhog looks like after it is hit with a 220 grain semi-jacketed round nose out of a .30-06. bset description is a meat filled, fur covered tube.:D
