I bought a used/new (only fired a few times) REMINGTON 870 EXPRESS MAGNUM a few months ago for home protection but, the 28" barrel that's on it is super long and I was wondering if Remington makes a short barrel (18 1/2", 20", 22") that you can change the chokes on? If not, should I just trim the barrel down to my desired length? Any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks

They make a lot of barrels for that gun. They do make a short 18.5 barrel. My mag came with a 25" receiver to tip. If money is an issue, you can cut it down.

But do they make a short barrel that you can Chang the chokes out for different ones?

Like I said you can find anything you want for this gun. I'm taking it you want a hd gun with a tight patern. at 7-10 yards max distance you probably wont see a noticable change in patern going from cyl. To a modify or even a slightly tighter.

That's the same thing my dad was saying. I'm thinking of cutting my 28" inch barrel down to either 24",22", or 20". I'm planning on putting a magazine extension on and I don't want the extension peice to be longer then the barrel after I cut it. Then later on down the road I can buy another 28" barrel. Thanks for the info.

you can also look into threading the barrel after you cut it. call up local gun smiths and see what they say.
