Gotta love how the media says "admitted militiaman" like that's a stigma and "implements of destruction". Nope, no bias there....

So did they originally arrest this guy in Hammond,In? I actually grew up in Hammond. I like how they pointed out that he picked up his guns while carrying a gun. Where were they trying to go with that? That they didn't get all his guns?

I'm glad the guy is free and got his stuff back. If they had any real evidence they would have have charged him. What really bothers me are the comments on the link. One guy is amazed that the dude had 40 guns and asked "why would anyone need so many, guys like him abuse the 2nd amendment".

I'm actually quite surprised he got his guns and the ammunition back  I remember when this story broke, the Fed's were hyping it up as some great stroke of work under the auspices of the Patriot Act :(

"see, we stopped home grown terror" - years later, what do they have to say?

Honestly, I think the dude is cuckoo, and possibly could be a little unhinged.
But the point is, he was arrested and charged, and his property was taken. Then he was aquitted and got his property back. Good.

I really cannot believe some of the replies to that article. There is nothing stating how many guns or ammo a person can own, This man didnt own any illegal firearms and has the right to do so even it it was 200 firearms and 500,000 rds . I just dont understand any of this . Its a damn good thing the fed judge had his head on straight because this could have went south on him . Our world is looking at another civil war some day and I hope I am long gone by then .

Indiana has long been a gun-friendly state. However, the media has long been trying to destroy that attitude. Once, a few years ago when I lived in Indianapolis, a local TV station news dingbat read a story about a shooting, then ad lib'd with, "Tsk, tsk, when are they going to do something about the guns?" Well, that same year, "they" did something - they passed the castle doctrine, and a law that said Indiana now honors all CCW's issued by all states.

It's not that simple. Imagine the untold amount of money he had to pay for legal representation and court costs. Wow! It's a money-making machine out there!

No sir, he was arrested because he was with 6 people, 2 of which had full-auto machine guns, which are illegal. The 2 were convicted, but he wasn't. But he still had to deal with attorney fees and other costs in order to defend himself.

If they had the proper license it Would've been fine. It's legal to own machine guns and silencers in the good ole state of Indiana. If they were smart and did it the correct way none of this would have happened!!

Amazing responses from people wondering why anyone would need 40 firearms. I wish my collection was that large.

I do own a collection about half this size. I wonder if the peanut gallery would think of 20 guns? Or 15? How about 6?

    It called "collecting" people...jeeze.

Good on him for getting his property returned. I just wonder how much damage the monkeys in the evidence room did.

My LGS was robbed a few years back, lost like 70 handguns, all but 2 were recovered and he had to sell them all at steep discounts because the wire ties Tacoma PD used to tag them scratched the snot out of all of the metal trigger guards.

    Tack

I have had more guns than that at one time, but had to sell some due to economics, so I now have only a couple dozen. I know a guy who claims that he and his father have 360 guns between them. Many people collect guns for reasons of curiousity, nostalgia, investment purposes, or they just like a variety of guns. It makes no sense for a government to stipulate how many of what kind of objects you can possess. Some people have a few dozen cars, some collect salt-n-pepper shakers. But the media always tries to make it look like anybody who has more than one gun is a kill-crazed maniac. Strange world.

    Guns

It really doesn't matter how many weapons a person has. You can own 1 or 1000 and that does not make you cuckoo because you own a lot of guns. The more guns the more protection you have. Live and let live.
