I am in the market for a new optic for my AR. Going to get an A3 flat top with a 16 or 20 in barrel, not sure which one yet.

So I am asking all of you to please post pictures of your scopes, red dot, etc. and why you got them. I live in a small town and the closest gun shop that has any scopes/sights is 2hrs away.

Currently I have an Eotech 552 mounted on my DPMS Carbine.

What is your budget and use for the optic?

My budget is enough I could get a high end Nightforce or Leupold if I chose. But not all good scopes or sights have to cost you an arm and a leg.

Looking to use it for mid-range shooting (bench rest or coyote calling) or 3 gun matches. With the quick detach mounts that are on the market today that return to zero when you re-mount your sight give me the flexibility to get a 3x9 scope and/or a red dot if I chose.

Looking to see what people have and why. Typical shooting distance where I live is up to 2,000 meters LOS or less the 30 meters in some areas.

I have the vortex strike fire red dot on my saiga, comes with a two piece magnification that screws right into the sight. Its meant to be used on ARs bevause it comes with high moint rings. Can use both eyes when shooting. PSA even has an offer where it comes with one of their carbines. Got it on amazon for about $160 too.

Aimpoint T1 - Mine is a 2MOA and I really like it. I haven't shot it as much as I wanted to, but I have ultimate faith in the zero and sight after watching the Daniel Defense video.

*Note that these photos show the Primary Arms Micro Dot which I had before I got the Aimpoint. The Aimpoint is the same size, better battery life, more settings, NVG capable, better built, etc. Mine sits on a LaRue mount.

I have a TA31F ACOG on an A.R.M.S. QD mount on my RRA 5.56, and a Trijicon 3-9x40 AccuPoint TR-20-2G on a LaRue LT104 mount, which comes with either QD mounts or VFZ mounts which I have, since I don't remove that scope. The AccuPoint is on a dedicated hunting AR in 6.8 SPC.

I've been enormously pleased with both products and mounts. Crystal clear glass, Bindon Aiming Concept in the case of the ACOG, tritium and fiber optic illumination, and they're both built like tanks.

I was at the local Big 5 Sports and saw a reflex sight made by BSA. I was wondering who has tried them.

I like the scope. Around here where I live I can take shots out to 1200 meters easily. What did you pay for the Nikon? By the way how do you like the Magpul grip? I ordered one to try it and am excited to go to the range.

You mean you're thinking Leupold or Nightforce, but would settle for a little BSA?

150-160 i think. the grip is nice very easy to hold. its a tad small if you have big hands but still pretty comfy.

Aimpoints rock, especially with a 2MOA dot.

No I would not. I am looking at getting a Sig 552 for my daughter for her to practice with. That is why I was asking about the BSA. I have heard about them and was wondering. Sorry for the mix up.

I am looking at getting a Bushmaster Patrol Carbine or a Sig M400 or maybe a LMT, not sure yet. I like the idea of having the ability to reach out to 800 meters if need be, but I like the ability for quick shots from 100 to 25 meters or less. If you have ever hunted coyotes you know how quick and quite they can be when they are that close.

I would take a look at the Nikon M-223 in a 2-8X32 with the BDC600 reticle if you intend on doing 3 gun and yote hunting ,
if your looking at going a little cheaper
P-223 in 3X32 with the BDC reticle . both those should get you out to 600 yards without any adjustments. Both have 95% light transmission and 1/4" MOA turrets
They also make the P-223 in a 3-9X40 same as above for around $200
