First of all, imfdb.org is an awesome website.
One thing I have noticed is that almost every movie I look at, modern movie at least, has the Beretta 92FS. (also an hk mp5 variant of some kind but not as much)

    Why is that?

So, I dare you to think of an action movie first, then go look to see if the Beretta is in it.

Let me know what you think.

    Really?

    You want to go there?

I can slay this thread in about ten minutes of movies that have made VERY GOOD box office numbers....

    How about:

    First Blood
3:10 To Yuma. The original and the remake
    Pirates of the Caribbean ( 1, 2 & 3 )
    Batman (The Original)
    Batman Begins
    Rambo (2008)
    Rambo: First Blood Part II
    Rambo: First Blood Part III
    Last Man Standing
    Casino
Casino Royale ( James Bond )
    Sahara
    Transformers II
    Transporter III
    Lucky Number Slevin
    The Terminator
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
    Zombieland
    Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
    No Country for Old Men
    Gran Torino

Well. There are a few on this fuzzy Friday night. While the Beretta 92 is popular, it is NOT the end all, beat all handgun....

Well sure, there are movies without the gun.
Of course not 3:10 To Yuma, Pirates of the Caribbean, those don't really count.

Im not saying its the end all be all at all
I don't know anything about the gun.
I don't own one, don't plan on buying one
I just notice it in a sh!t ton of movies. modern action movies.

That's because the gun casting is done by mindless liberal hoggywood types.

It's a very good site, and it's pretty comprehensive. I just love a good movie challenge... :D

Now...now just because the M9A1 replaced the legendary 1911 as the military standard issue isn't an excuse to get testy. :D

ooohhh, I see. I had no idea. Just read wikipedia.
Well, I'd rather have the 1911 over the Beretta, in fact I'm getting my first Dan Wesson 1911 in a few weeks.. yeah!

But still the gun is in 90% of modern action movies. Don't quote me on that.

probably part of this is because the 92FS was standard issue police and military weapon.

think Die Hard, cop --> carrying his service weapon...SHTF ---> kills all the bad guys..

The beretta 92fs is a great weapon and solid as a tank, but it's no comparison to a good 1911. no...no...no....

The just aren't as accurate nor are they as sexy! :D

Yes, christians even recognize the sexiness of a good 1911.

While the Beretta M9A1 did replace the 1911. I don't know any active active or discharged that would chose it over a 1911. That is an objective opinion IMHO

I would agree, the ex-Marine, I know there is no such thing, that I bought the Beretta from told me he would sell it to me because that's his business but, and I quote, "every man should own at least one 1911."
