    I'm about to take a different kind of vacation. I'm going by myself with a Honda Shadow to the desert. My inventory thus far is the bike, Camelbak Urban Assault backpack, Coleman dual fuel single burner stove, a pistol, some kind of knife, my custom first aid kit, contact fluid(lost my glasses), lighters, lighter fluid, water tablets, small roll of saran wrap, face shaver, hair clippers, bandanas, a kot, small cooking pot, hobo eating knife, flashlight, trickle charger for my iPhone, sunscreen, tire repair kit, foot pump, signal mirror, sand goggles(contacts), & whatever else y'all would recommend.

    Don't forget a map and compass! Maybe download some pics of landmarks and attach them to the map ;)

    Good idea. I'll get one of those suction cup compasses for my gas tank as well. Map & compasses noted.

    These work well, but they're a little hard to get started:
    Pocket chain saw
    And they last forever. One of the handle doohickies on mine broke so I replaced both handles with webbing straps.

    You could pick up one of those little wire jobbies at your local sporting goods store for a couple bucks. They don't last long and are a pita, but they're samll and cheap.

    If I had the room, I'd just carry a hacksaw.

    Would the Motion X app for iPhone suffice or do I still need signal?

    Our mantra when it comes to life saving items;

    "Two is one and one is none." The reason we carry a back up gun (BUG).

    Good point. Well I was taught to stay away from Tom-Toms. What would you suggest?
