Is that a single shot? That looks like a really short ejection port. Maybe it is just the pic? But that looks shorter than 22LR to me.

Thanks I know probably to be a 22 long rifle 22 short or a trainer that was called a bB cap guns of some sort.
I found one close to it on the internet but it said it was a model 1926 it does have the more markings on the barrel so I'm assuming this is pre that one.

Paatz was a gunmaking family from the late 1800s. did not survive WW 2. They were near Suhl where EVERBODY was a gunmaker.

POSSIBLY a .22 LR (look for 5.4 as metric designation) but Paatz also made Flobert short range target guns, could be a BB cap firearm.

From the left, the really short round is a CB cap, the one to its right is a BB cap.

Yeah that's kind of what I've been reading on it to .
There is no other markings on it except for proof mark.
So on the left side there is to proof mark symbols and then it says nitro

Ez, that's a nice looking rifle and looks great for being as old as it is. someone must have taken good care of it over the years.

have you found any ammo for it?

I have some cb caps that look more like the 22 short on the left. Very quiet and if the shot is well placed (between the lookers) they can be the answer to your raccoon problems. I'm just saying.

Nitro and the symbol are smokeless powder proof marks.

Possibly a German version of a Gallery gun? Bars, carnivals, etc. had indoor target galleries where CB caps and .22 shorts were pretty common since they were quieter.

The Winchester pump .22s were pretty popular gallery guns here in the US.

I've had it for over 30 years and just buried in the back of the gun safe I don't know what calibre it is and I've never just thrown something in it to try it yet lol
