Wondering if anyone can help me ID this round? It has a U stamp on it. Appears to be rimfire, and around .50. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

POSSIBLY cal .50 Remington pistol, U is for Union Metallic cartridge Co, made 1865-1910. If so, case length is about .875, 290 gr bullet over 32 gr of black powder. The US military used a single shot, rolling block pistol in that cal.

Thank you. Trying to find some other pics to compare it to. It was turned in to the local police dept during a buyback program, and I wasn't sure how old or unique it may be.

There have been 50 rifle and carbine rimfire ammo from the 1800s, but this one seems to be for the rolling block PISTOL. Bigazzed single shot.
