This followed me home around 1947. I have no idea what its military use was, but it makes a great place to store my cleaning equipment. It is built like a tank, rubber seal, etc.
Anyone have a clue as to what its original purpose was?

I'd either agree and go with radio storage, or if it's watertight, possibly something the frogmen had.

I don't think we hand any radios that small back then. I have looked in a lot of military surplus shops and have never found anything like it. It was picked up when I was stationed an Air Force repair depot in Erding Germany so it might have been for some sensitive test equipment.

    Perhaps a Chaplain's Box?

Enough room for a bottle, Bible and other necessities!!
