I am very excited!!!! Yesterday I pulled the trigger on ordering a Spikes Tactical Lower Stripped Receiver in the Punisher model with some OD Green fill in. I understand how busy they are given that turn around will be 90 days.....grrrrr!

But, that will give me plenty of time to research complete uppers and triggers, or if I wanna try to build an upper. Would LOVE to start hearing some input on uppers and triggers.

To be more specific I am wanting to use the weapon for Self Defense and general shooting. Wanting 16" mid-length set up, 5.56 chambering, and 12" free float rail system (I like the look of DD Omega 1 set up) but am open to considerations.

Going to go with an OD Green Magpul stock. Going with Magbul BUIS

    Thanks ahead for any help!!

Take a look at Palmetto State Armory uppers. When picking out the options, they have a drop down to select a 12" free-float hand hard.

You wouldn't happen to be related to the LaRues of Austin Texas would you?

The SnipersHide link was great Tikki, thanks.

I'm a big fan of BCM and DD for a nice rifle but like we talked about in a previous thread if you have the extra cash a Noveske or Larue would make a good choice.

    Rails: tube or quad?

PS don't fall into the trap! K.I.S.S. it your first time out!

Mod it slowly as you go. Think of it as a work in progress.

All you need are mags ammo and a light for SD. Sling is optional imo, but very useful.

I'm thinking rails. I like BCM and DD also. Will be looking at Noveske for sure! Gonna do a complete upper.

Will be holding off on LaRue tactical. Gonba save up later and buy a complete 7.62 probably like the new PredatAR OBR

Great stuff y'all. Will be checking links today Tikki. Any particular triggers and I know it's SD but who doesn't want a barrel that can give 1" moa at at least 100 preferably 200 yrds. Or am I just crazy? Input

DD makes an insanely light rail, be careful tho some require a proprietary barrel nut.

The lite rail requires the DD barrel but wrench. The Omega utilizes your existing barrel nut and clamps onto it. You can install it yourself without anything special. You can find videos on YouTube.

I just read all these and i'm convinced I'm gonna go with the Geissele SD3g for my trigger

    Um no. Please don't.

While I have one and absolutely love it, you stated that one of your intended uses is home defence. the SD3G is a competition oriented trigger designed for fast shooting. It is NOT a good choice for defensive or duty roll, the trigger it is just too light.

Look to the SD-C or SSA.

I honestly think you are getting ahead of yourself tho, learn the milspec first its the ideal choice for duty or defensive roles. Getting a SD3G for your uses is like using an F1 car to get the groceries, impractical and dangerous to drive on the streets.

Look at the LWRC. Price is a little high but well worth it's weight in gold.

In what respect? Are you talking triggers or complete uppers?
