I posted this in refinishing but my question wasn't answered, so I'll post here and if no one answers again I'll drop it.

I want to permanently fill in the factory engraving on the receiver and was looking for ideas. I was going to heat the receiver and melt in electrical soldier, but I'm afraid the heat will warp the metal.

Any ideas? or help would be greatly appreciated.

Mabe you could use glass bedding compound like Acra glass from Brownells.
I would have to ask why? is the engraving that hidous?

I really don't like the factory scrolling on the receiver. My plan for the gun is to parkerize it and make a "tactical" (ohhhhh ahhhhh....lol) shotgun. My minds eye thinks the the factory scrolling wouldn't look that great.

Thats the honest reason I want to get rid of the scrolling.

    Thanks guys

You COULD fill it in but then parking still wouldn't "cover" it over right. Perhaps you could fill it in then use a teflon moly oven cured finish or baked on paint?
