Ok here is the deal! I am going to get an AK tommorrow and what is everyone's oppinion? I have the choice between a WASR with all the stuff that comes with it or a IO AK that has no site mount on the side of it. but is well made I have already checked it out. So which is better a Romanian WASR or an American Polish copy with no sight mount on it? HELP me please I dont wanna screw up and buy junk. the IO is $585.00 and the WASR is $525.00. What is the better choice?

I myself would go with the Polish they hold a special place in my heart. Plus there are many options now for mounts.

well the WASR has the side mount set up and bayonet and oil can and sling and the IO just has the composite stock and two thirty round mags it comes with.

Both are priced waytoo high for what they are, You can get a Russian Saiga AK ond convert it at that price, much, much better gun.

Conversions are much easier than they look and if you go with the Saiga, you can get a 5.45x39 (AK74) version, which is vastly superior IMO. Plus the ammo is CHEAP and standard 74 mags work with no modifications.

I mean it doesn't get any cooler than a real Russian AK.

WASR's are known for having bad trigger slap, canted sights, & loose fitting mags.
So I would go with the American Polish copy.

I have watched reviews on both brands but I really like the IO however without having that piece on the reciever for the scope mount I am worried later down the road if I want a eotech or scope how would i mount that? And yes I have found WASR's cheaper but by the time I have them shipped to the FFL and then pay the fee to pick it up hell I am only a couple of bucks off from just buying it from the FFL.

If you install a bullet guide, the accept any standard AK mag, but with the 5.45x39, you don't need the bullet guide, they work without it.

So yes, they can use 30 rounders.

If you don't mind the factory handguards, yo can do one for less than the WASR the rear conversion runs abot $150 if you shop around.
