Well I recently decided I would like a new shotgun for duck hunting. I could use some input seeing as the only shotgun I have ever had is a Mossberg 835. I'm looking for something semi auto and don't know where to start. I'd like to keep at $1000 or less. Any help would be appreiated. Thanks

Good luck with that!! Most duck hunters I know favor the Beretta. If you find one for around $1,000 I would advise wearing gloves when you load it into your truck.

Might want to check out Stoeger semi-auto. It's the same action as the Benelli at a much lower price point. From what my nephew describes of his duck hunting, it is not a gun I would want to put much money into. Talk about torture test.

Under $1000 will give you a lot of options. The Stoeger seems to be a good choice. M2000, M3500, and M3000 all seem to be good choices to me.

Gun shows often have a few of the old Spanish SXS 3 1/2 inch 10 gauges kicking around.

They are decent but every new one I have seen has had jamming issues

I bought 2 1187's before going on a goose hunt to Argentina. Never again. Both jammed the first day. The interceptor latch spring on both jumped out of the groove and wouldn't cycle the next shell into the chamber. Not fun having a one shot gun when the geese are attacking.I may not be using the right terminology above.

In my opinion the 1187 sucks.
