I was surprised to see the new Stainless Remington 1911 on the shelf, so I bought it right away. It was $699.

I already have the Rem R1 Talo edition that I got for the 100 year anniversary last year for $599. I've been seeing the prices go up though, so you can't get a Rem 1911 for that low anymore.

The 2 Remingtons are pretty much exact matches except for being blued or stainless, with even most of the lettering on the slide and body matching up too.

I will post pics later and more reviews of it. :D

I tried to buy a Ruger SR1911 a couple months ago, but the store policy wouldn't hold it during the background check and it got sold out during the delay. They still haven't restocked the Ruger, but at another store I came across the new Remington stainless. When I saw it in person, I actually thought it had a healthier shine and crisper presentation compared to the Ruger. So, now I've got two Remington 1911s. I'm sure I would have been happy with the Ruger 1911, but I know I'm happy now that the Remington Stainless worked out instead.

I switched out the plain Walnut wood grips with G10 grips that have the Remington medallion. While the walnut grips did look good, i think this is a pretty nice upgrade. It came with two stainless 7rd mags, but I have some 10rd mags on order.

Everything functions very nicely and I was comparing it to my Talo Version R1. Same trigger, same hammer tension, same slide. Terrific. Most of my handguns are black, so the stainless really stands out. Between the two, blue and stainless, I think I would select the stainless 1911 as my one preference.

Looking forward to getting to the range!

very nice Marthor! i looked at the same pistol friday, but bought the R1 Enhanced instead. i had the final two choices out of the four i looked at down to the R1 and the SA Range Officer. i decided on the R1. very happy with it so far. nice choice and looks good.

Nice looking 1911 I went for the Enhanced version too, but I do like that SS. I don't think I've seen the Talo version would you post a pic of that.

what would be nice is if they offered the Enhanced model in stainless steel. i was really liking the R1 in the stainless steel, and came really close to getting it, but realized all the changes i would have had to make to make it like the Enhanced model, so i just went with it instead.

I just got a set of black Hogue grips for my Springfield.

Improves the looks 100%. Plus the soft rubber checkered

    has a great feel.

Nice R!S, although I don't like the grips personally. I just picked one up myself for $690 before tax, $740 after tax. Bought a stainless 8 round mag to go with it for $26 after tax. I got new grips on the way for it as I want something different then the rosewood like it has on it now.

How would you compare them to a SA mil spec?

The Talo edition has the custom Rosewood Grips with the Remington Medallion.

The stock R1 and R1S both come with Walnut Wood Grips and no medallion embedded.

My bad, I thought they were rosewood, might be walnut though. Don't know much about wood grips. I personally don't like them.
