6.5 Grendel, 6.8 spc, 300 blk, 458 socom are some good ones.

I have a 6.8 upper, but have not had an opportunity to take a deer with it yet. Maybe this season....

People do use their 5.56/223 ARs, just use a quality hunting round and make a good clean shot.

    Black bear

Would an AR 15 in .223 take down a black bear, not hunting but self defense?
I live in the South East Tennessee mountains and blacks are common.

I have no personal experience to offer this question but from what I've gathered from our more experienced members here is probably not...sans the perfect shot, heart/lungs/brain. It'll probably serve to piss Yogi off more than stop him...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :D
