I am looking for a good bullet to use for reloads for hunting black-tailed Deer. I am going to be using my Savage 30-06 so I am thinking a lighter bullet, (probably 150 gr.).

I am sure there are probably as many opinions here as there are which cartridge to use but I need a place to start.

Your right. Opinions are like @$$holes. Everyone has one and they all stink.

I like a heavy for caliber bullet. They pack more energy further and do less meat damage. (Less velocity, less bullet deformation, smaller wound cavity. Look it up.)

Blacktail deer are pretty tiny, and tend to live in pretty thick country, so I'd load something pretty mild. I usually default to Nosler Partitions when in doubt, although they aren't as accurate (1.5 MOA vs .5 MOA) and go for 2400-2500 fps.

I use 150gr sp for my deer load and a 150gr HP for my chuck load. This is out of a .308 but I know the two cartridges are similar.

I'll second that on the heavy bullets, and I would also go mild. Slow heavy bullets transfer a lot of energy. Lighter fast bullets tend to either zip through without doing much damage, or hit the right spot and do too much damage.

I like Hornady's SST and Nosler's Accubond.

Sierra Gameking is what I would use. They aren't as expensive as some of the other options yet are more accurate and have excellent weight retention. Nosler ballistic tips are a good second option.

Just get some that you like and work up a load. There are too many good options to be honest with you.

150g Sierra Gamekings in the '06 is a great bullet for small to medium,thin skinned game.Have used them for years.......decent general,target/practice bullet as well.....when you look at $$ vs performance.

I use Hornady Interbond 165 gr. for whitetails. It's worked great for me for a lot of years in my '06.
