Yep. It's true. I have a serious tinfoil hat wearing "acquaintance" who NEEDS a true long gun. He had a sweet Remy 870 that I personally set up for him. Calls me about 3 weeks ago and he wants to just up and trade it AND a Taurus PT 1911 to some *** clown for a 10 plus year old AR because it's "pre-ban".

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over?

So I stall the sale/trade with what I like to call "facts" and he comes around to the "a new AR" being more to his liking.

Except my boy is about as handy as a lawyer in a SHTF situation.

"Build me an AR, I'll buy the parts and you can have the 1911 because I don't like it anyways and it doesn't hold as many rounds as my Glock" is basically the conversation.

Now. I ask you, can I allow a 1911 to remain in these tinfoil clad hands??

That's me. JD. The AR whore... LOL

Pictures later and an individual, personal range report of a full sized used Taurus PT-1911.

Hey, I'm no Taurus fan by any means but.....I had a Taurus PT1911AR that shot as good as my Wilson CQB, that's no lie. It was not a tight gun(slide to rails) but the barrel lock up was spot on. The finish was crap, but the dang thing would shoot. The guy that bought it from me says it's his favorite pistol of all time.

    Mine isn't a 1911, but it's a Taurus nonetheless.

The only issues it has had are when you shoot some real hot .454 loads, the cylinder tends to get jammed up, and occasionally the ejector rod will back out (un-thread) and lock the cylinder into the frame.

I'll consider owning a Taurus if it's made from steel, and nothing but steel. Throw any tupperware or lightweight alloy into the equation and the answer is no.

Hey, it's cool JD. I have a Taurus .22 revolver, it's excellent. And I used to have a pink shirt but my lovely wife pitched it.

Welcome to the Taurus club. It may not be the original but I think you'll find it's reliable.

Seriously remove the brand name stamp and many people wouldn't be able to identify any differences and if it stands up in tests who cares what brand it is.

Thanks for understanding, but I have already had an offer I cannot refuse from a fellow forum member. Apparently people think I can make even a little old Taurus shoot?:eek::cool:

Seriously, if that deal falls thru, I will hit you up first.

Pictures are coming, but the damn thing needs a trigger job, that I can say for sure.

True. And I will give credit for that. But what I have in mind is going to be the envy of Taurus owners' all over the forum.

Just you wait my little hate mongers, you are ALL going to clamoring for a JD Edition 1911.

JD, no matter how epic the work effort, it will still be a Taurus.
