For the sake of legality, I am not saying that I am going to do this, I am just curious

How much trouble could I get in at 19 years of age owning a hand gun and keeping it in the lockable glove box of my car? I would like to know for Washington and California state, mostly curious about Washington State.

OK- here is your most valuable internet lesson on seeking REALLY important information:

Some states permit ownership/ possession of a handgun by person between 18-21. Some do not. Some states consider a handgun in a glovebox to be a concealed weapon. Some do not. Some states consider an unlawful concealed weapon a FELONY. Some do not (misdemeanor) FELONIES result in your being banned from owning a gun the rest of your life.

Now, I could tell you the laws in CA and Washington, but I am not. You see, you have no idea who the hell I am- and as far as you can tell for SURE- I am 13 years old, Mom is still asleep, and does not know I am posting on the forum using a really cool user name- and most I know about guns is what I learned playing HALO III.

Seriously, this is too important to take advice from total strangers, unless the advice is a link to the state dept of justice website, where you can read FOR YOURSELF what the state law requires. Please. Start by running a Google search for the state laws in the states you seek. When you run into a question on meaning of anything there, please come back by, post, and myself or other folks here will try to give you a hand.

Unless mom grounds me and takes away my internet privileges again. :D

The FTF flunked our Bar Exam.

Only a fool would take legal advice from us.

    Call a lawyer.

Taking legal advice from a public forum is only exceeded in stupidity by the people that offer that advice! [IMG]

Check with your State Authorities and DO IT LEGALLY.

Just because you read something on the net, doesn't make it true.

NEVER leave a handgun in a car. Cars get stolen/broken into all the time.

Like IGETEVEN said, a lawyer is always a credible source of legal information.

More often than not, the local police know what the laws are too.

    Hmmm...

I know that any felony could ruin a LONG life. They don't go away like a bankruptcy. Living life by playing the odds is a sure way to get screwed. LEO's can sniff deception or nervousness.

I'm surprised you even asked about California. I heard they just outlawed possessing photographs of high-capacity magazines larger than 10 rounds. You gotta have regulations or those nutjob right-wing terrorist types will go on a killing rampage after they get done going to work to pay their taxes and support their family.

Keep it simple, ask your local police department! Why would you ask a firearms forum a question you can get an easy answer to by contacting your local PD?
