'bout 6 miles East and upriver.......they had a stone quarry there and
over the years removed a limestone mountain and provided ballast
for railroad bed construction.....I had Uncles who worked there, way back....
don't think it is there now......I remember their homes and the "company store" where their purchases were with company script.
Here's Google Maps "Snowflake, WV"....we use to walk through the railroad tunnel to get there from Fort Springs...notice that the limestone mountain is gone..
Yes, actually adjoining Teaberry Road (State Rte. 45) which runs between Ronceverte and Lewisburg.
We refer to it as the "backroad" and it kinda' runs along the Greenbrier River, where there are a couple roads that run down to the railroad/river. We grew up fishing and swimming the Greenbrier...... Thanks for asking.
