In an average year, how many rounds would you guesstimate you shoot in a given year? I would say there are 3 main categories. Pistol centerfire, Rifle centerfire, and rimfire.

Personally I probably shoot 4-500 pistol centerfire, 100 rifle centerfire and a couple thousand rimfire. These are just guesstimates, I would shoot more rifle but I don't own a semi-auto so that keeps the numbers way down. I'm just looking back at the past year or so of ammo purchases and it's really hitting home how damned expensive it has gotten.

I'm also guessing I'm on the low end for this board.

    Pistol 1200 in a year.

    Rifle: 500 rounds a year

Rimfire: 5,000 to 10,000 a year at least. I love me some rimfires.

    How about shotguns?? :D

I shoot more 12ga shotgun rounds than all my other firearms.
Rifles; I'll shoot about 60 rounds to get dialed in for hunting season, after that it depends on how much game I see.
Handguns; (various calibers) 100 rounds per month. (600 per yr.)
Rimfire; 100 rounds per month (1200 per yr.)
Shotgun; 12ga 200 rounds per month (2400 per yr.)

Of course this is guesstimations, I really think I shoot more 12ga shotgun shells than I had listed. :D

Your right, I forgot about them. I can hit a quarter @ 100 yards with a rifle, a Silver dollar at 30 yards with a pistol. I might be able to hit the broad side of a barn with a shotgun. I don't know why but shotgun is not my thing, I've probably hit 2 clay birds out of 100 that I have tried.

Do PRB's count? That's patched round balls for you uninitiated.

Any type of round you want to share your info on counts. Just specify what type it is.

I don't keep track anymore since I don't like to think about how much money I've sunk into dirt berms (literally!) over the years. :p

But back when I was heavy into highpower rifle competition it was easily 5000 - 6000 rounds of centerfire ammo every year.

I've put only about 300+ through my .40 and 120 through my .38 Special. It is just too hard for me to get ammo. My 12 gauge though I don't even count because I have a reloader and just shoot it 'til my hand hurts, so rough estimate on 12 gauge would be 800-1000 per year. I don't own a .22 but I shoot other people's and ammo is so cheap it makes it fun enough to where you don't ever bother counting.

About 3,000 certer fire pistol, 400 center fire rifle and a measly 100 rimfire (the only rimfire I own is an AMT autoMag) per year.

I'd say roughly 3000-4000 pistol rounds, 500-1000 shotgun, less then 100-150 rifle and a couple thousand rimfire.

Since I shoot alot of my reloads, I can get pretty close:

    40cal - 200
    44mag - 200
    9mm - 3000
    .223 - 2000 (1500 ball - 500 tracer)
    30-06 - 4000 (2500 ball - 1500 tracer)

And I don't even want to know what it costs.
